| Artist's Row Opens! The Salem Arts Festival this week!
Artist's Row opened with a smashing success with well over 170 visitors and $250 in sales! Please give a warm thank you to our retail team when you see them. Dan Browne, Jack Walsh, Henry Zbysznski, Monique Luijben worked long hours to make this happen. We'd also like to send our support and thanks to Arlene Browne for pitching in when she could have been resting. And a big thank you to Wendy Snow-Lang who curated and hung our opening monthly exhibition, "Fresh & Fruity."
Henry is still looking for some more volunteers to gallery sit and help sell all of our wonderful materials. Please show your support for your retail gallery by signing up online or send Henry an email.
The Salem Arts Festival is this week. We've got nearly 20 SAA members either opening their studios or joining a downtown business for Saturday, June 5th. And there will be more than a half-dozen members doing some "en plein air" work on Sunday, June 6th. Make sure to come down to Old Town Hall and pick up your booklet to map out your days. The opening reception is 5:00 on Friday, June 4th. There's also lots of great music around town over the weekend. The hub of activities will be Old Town Hall, Salem Commons, and Pickering Wharf. There will be a "Mayor's Reception" on Sunday June 6th at 2 pm where she will announce the winners of the Salem Cultural Council grants for 2010 at the SAA Gallery on Artist's Row.

Upcoming events for Salem Arts Association
As part of our contract with the city for Artists's Row space we need to host a community event in the Old Town Hall. Mark your calendar for August 5-9. We're going to collaborate with everyone on Artist's Row to utilize both the upstairs and the downstairs. We'll open it up from the Farmer's Market on Thursday night until Sunday evening. If you'd like to help us stage something during that time let us know. Working title is "Artist's Row Fun Fest."
To keep us connected and working throughout the year two events have been added to our October to April calendar. The Danvers Art Association would like to do a companion show with us and Montserrat College of Art would like to host a lecture/social/workshop for us (think about a topic that would work with Danvers and check out the Montserrat schedule of events and help us pick a great show to attend and have a social event).
