SAA Members Discount for Salem Film Fest!
The Salem Film Fest organizers are generously offering a special discount to all SAA Members! SAA members can now enjoy any film for just $8. ! Just show your SAA Member Card. CinemaSalem will also have a list of current members. Joe Cultrera, one of the festivals founding organizers thinks everyone will get a hoot out of Automorphosis and its art car filmmaker Harrod Blank who is coming from Arizona. If you happen to see a giant touch-tone phone driving around Salem you'll know the AUTOMORPHOSIS team has arrived. Harrod's Dad—indie documentary legend Les Blank—is also coming (from Berkeley) to show four of his films. There are also several music films (Rock Prophecies, Girls Rock, Riseup, Blues According to Lightnin' Hopkins) and the Salem Arts Association sponsored film - Trimpin: The Sound of Invention. Of course there are other great stories without an art bent. PEM is showing a single film, Building 173, on Sunday the 28 th at 2pm in Morse Auditorium. Per PEM's admission policy, this one is free to all Salem residents or PEM members. And don't miss Salem Arts Association member Richard Flynn's Salem Film Fest renderings on the walls of CinemaSalem throughout the festival. So please join your fellow artists starting this coming Friday, February 26th, through Thursday March 4th for great movies that cannot often be seen on the big screen. And remember, Thursday March 4th, Trimpin: The Sound of Invention is sponsored by the Salem Arts Association and is the closing night film. Art Throb is hosting a wine and snack gathering in the cafe after the movie and our Seeds of Summer opening at SAtv is earlier in the evening, make a night of it! Film descriptions, images and trailers, along with the day by day schedule are posted on http://www.SalemFilmFest.com. Enjoy another aspect of Salem at it's best! Ellen Ellen G.
